Marshmallows for Breakfast

"Anyways, most Saturdays what I do have for breakfast is cereal. Just like this one." I pointed to a box of Weetabix. "But I like to make it special, because breakfast on Saturday has to be special, don't you think? Monday to Friday can be special if you want, but Saturday always has to be special. Otherwise, what's the point of having a weekend?"

"To make it special, you have to do this. You have matching bowls, like we've got. Then you pick up your bag of wishes, which is always sitting beside you. You pick up your bag of wishes and dip your fingers into it like this." I reached into my invisible bag and took a pinch of its contents. I sprinkled it into the empty cereal bowl in front of me. "The first dose of wishes is always love," I informed them. I reached into the bag again, took another pinch. "Now this second dose is always happiness. Because that makes you smile in your tummy." They weren't saying anything but they were paying attention. I took another pinch. "And this dose is sunshine to warm you up inside." I took another dose. "Do you know what dose this is?" I asked, then waited. I had to wait. Time ticked past but I carried on waiting.

"Magic," a small voice said. Reluctant, but offered. I grinned at Jaxon, pleased that he'd spoken. "You're so right, Jaxon," I said, still grinning. I sprinkled it in the bowl then took another dose. "What's this one, Summer?"

"Fun," she said, and grinned.

"That's right!" I said and added it to the bowl. "Okay, now that we've put in the wishes, we can add the cereal. And once that's in the bowl, we add another wish. This is the most extra, extra special. Because what we sprinkle on top is a secret wish that we don't tell anyone. You can wish for anything. Absolutely anything. So, do you want to give it a try?"

Disenchanted

Lyrics | Disenchanted lyrics

I feel like the world is crashing down on me... It's like a huge black hole is just whirlpooling my entire future and destiny into nonexistence...

Here I am on one hand praying so hard that I can get into NTU ADM, and on the other hand, I'm hearing about how "the degree is not of very much use in the creative field"... I really don't know if I'm up to producing a good enough portfolio (if I get in) by the time I graduate...

God is so silent nowadays... God, where are You? Answer me, Lord... Don't leave me here wondering what's next and how now because I don't know... Only You know, Lord... Don't leave me alone... Speak to me, Lord...

Well, I'm back to school and learning alot of not-so-new stuff... It's quite boring actually, but it's good to know that there are a bunch of things that I now can do smoothly unlike last time... Like Chemistry for example...

For those who have been scared to pieces by the intensity of History H1, it's still the same, guys!!! I'm still carrying thick books of history around and frantically scribbling essays... Though I only do history in school and on weekends, I kinda enjoy the sensation of being a smart-aleck in history class (hee)... Unfortunately, I'm no longer the ONLY history student in my form class, neither am I the GP pro (because I really cannot be bothered to show talent in arguing anymore)or the GP rep... In a way, I simply couldn't care... I'm just taking care of me, myself and I.

Though it sounds selfish but it doesn't mean I don't care for the emotional welfare of my "peers"... I'm just slightly more apathetic, slightly more nonchalant about things now... Oh yes, and I HAVE TO TAKE NAPHA!!! DAMN!!! Aside from the fact that I came in as one of the first few in class during a trial run, nothing serves to cheer me up about that upcoming prospect...

I want to go to NTU ADM so badly!!! Really!!! I don't know how I'm going to survive like this for another, well, few months?? It doesn't seem that short... Just thinking about it makes me tired... Honestly, sleep's my narcotic... It's like, being awake manifests withdrawal symptoms... It's escapism I know but that's all I want to do... Hopefully wake up one day and find out that the life I've been living for the past few weeks was nothing but a nightmare in some parallel world of nasty dreams...

God, please help me get in... please please please...

Okay...NUS check, NTU check, ADM check...Except for Faculty Test...

Ahhh!!! Just when I thought I had everything done for the admissions, here comes another thing again... I mean, I'm a photographer, hardly an artist... Honestly, I don't know if my straight A primary school art has gone mouldy or on a permanent vacation... I'm not even sure if I have any "creativity" left...

FACULTY TEST
Structure of Examination Paper

There will be a 1 hour 30 minutes paper consisting of six problems that can be solved through visual, graphic and written responses.

Syllabus

The test is aimed at determining the abilities of the applicant in three areas:

- Creativity and Conceptual Ability
- Art, Design and Aesthetic Sensibilities
- Storytelling and Communication Skills

Studying for this type of examination is unnecessary and probably will work against the candidate. Our goal is to determine how the applicants can solve visual problems, determine their craft ability, test their creativity and spontaneity and determine their ability to tell stories and communicate with an audience.

Examples

The following are examples of the problems that may be posed for the examination. These are examples only. The actual content of the test should not be something that you should study for.

- You will be given a set of simple geometric shapes, you are to create a “visual metaphor” of a word or phrase.
- You will be provided with an example of a product or a service, create an advertisement that will communicate with an audience to sell or raise awareness of the product or service.
- If you are right handed, draw a picture of your left hand in pencil or ink. If you are left handed, draw a picture of your right hand in pencil or ink.
- Using a set of graphic elements create three abstract compositions that demonstrate three emotional states of mind.
- Use your pencil to create ten completely different types of marks.
- You will be given a set of three photos of children and three photos of animals, select one photo of a child and one photo of an animal. In six panels create a story board which shows an interaction between the child and the animal.
- In 200- 300 words, write a humorous anecdote of something that happened to you recently.

Well, as of my Quiet Time on 2nd April, God said:

Matthew 6:25-34
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[d] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
