I guess I'll never know

It hasn't been a great year, in fact, it's been far from that. I'm glad it's over. Adios, Ciao, Goodbye 2008.

Measurements never seem to stop... Today was just bad enough... I don't suppose I've ever felt so strongly against the term "all free size". I could fit the dress, except that there was this little pocket of fat that peeked from the top of the tube cut. It was enough to make a girl feel enormous and flabby and... and... just ugly. It got worse when I tried a perfectly fine nice blue dress and mum was there shaking her head saying "you cannot wear this kind of thing". To compound that, my sis tried on a dress that was not too different in cut to the one I tried and mum was nodding in approval.

I won't know what's your take on this, maybe you'd think that I'm overreacting. Maybe I'll look back and agree with that point of view. But right now, I just feel like "the ugly sister". Even though mum said "maybe I'm just not used to seeing you in a dress", it was more than enough to make me give up the notion altogether. For all the friends and family who have been encouraging me to try on a dress for the longest time and make a change from my usual jeans and tee, I'm sorry. I tried, but I guess it just didn't work out.

I think the only person who can tell me that I'm beauiful is myself. And that's not being very easy to do right now. I've been fighting all the urges to complain about my appearance, telling myself that I'm beautiful and cool no matter what others say. But that plan isn't working out very well. Nowadays, I can't help criticizing everything I see in the mirror, really, it's not that I want to.

Well, I guess it's gonna be jeans and tees for a long while. Oh yeah, and they're gonna be black. So there.
